'The Cathedral' consists of three short pieces for solo guitar inspired by various aspects of my upbringing within the Catholic Church. They reflect both the terrifying immensity and impenetrable nature of the Church as experienced by a child, and also the feelings of guilt, shame, fear, and inadequacy which follow many ex-members around for life.
'The Cathedral' stands as a representation of all such 'Churches' into which we are indoctrinated from birth. Religion, nationalism, politics, xenophobia, and all those ways in which 'fear of The Other' manifests by forming anti-communities based on exclusion, prejudice, fear, and hatred. While these are all 'Cathedrals' into which we may be born, the doors are not locked. We can choose to walk outside into the light (and maybe even bring others with us).
The pieces featured on this release were originally recorded as demos, but the overly harsh production --sometimes muddy and sometimes sharp and grating-- seemed appropriate given the fact that they represent hazy elements of my psyche. As such (and for better or worse), both tracks were performed by solo guitar as single takes with no click tracks, editing, or overdubs.

Utterly stunning. There are moments on this album that are so deeply unsettling that I can only compare them to the later stages of The Caretaker's 'Everywhere at the End of Time' suite. Nate Cøllins Noise

When an album achieves such a beautiful symbiosis between the message conveyed, the values defended and a RABM that is both powerful and melodic...we can only be won over. Long live the fight against fascism ! 𝕽𝖔𝖓𝖓𝖎𝖊 𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝕳𝖔𝖗𝖓𝖊𝖉
